Lesson 1. Introduction.

Steve Jobs was a single-minded perfectionist. The drive he had to achieve great things led to the success of the company but also backfired at times. He always aimed at bringing out the best of people and if they failed, they would be easily replaced. In this biography, Steve Jobs’s journey in both his personal and work life is shown. He fought many battles but shows us how to be unique and keep trying. His company even had huge losses at one point but rose back to succeed like never before.

Lesson 2. Steve Jobs’s love for engineering and design.

Steve Jobs was the biological son of Adbdulfattah Jandali and Joanne Schieble. However, due to disapproval of their relationship from Schieble’s family, they were forced to give their baby for adoption and was adopted by Paul and Clara Jobs. Paul Jobs was an engine technician who turned to car mechanics and introduced Steve to the world of engineering and design. From the start, Paul tried to pass along his love for mechanics to Steve, who recalls being impressed by his father’s focus on craftsmanship. They lived in an inexpensive Eichler house, an ‘everyman’ modern home, which further led to Steve’s obsession over clean, elegant design.

The two Steves:

Steve Jobs met Steve Wozniak in high school and immediately bonded. Wozniak who was five years older than Steve was a talented computer technician. Steve in fact learned a lot about computers from him. They loved to explore the world electronics and see what they could create through it.  Their first project together was the ‘Blue Box’, a device that used frequencies to make long-distance calls for free. The idea for design was Wozniak’s, whereas Jobs turned the innovation into a business, using $40 worth of parts to sell for $150. Almost 100 boxes were sold and this gave them an idea of what they could do together with Wozniak’s engineering skills and Jobs’s vision.

Lesson 3. Interests that shaped Jobs’s aesthetic sense.

Along with Jobs’s interest in math, science and electronics, he started using LSD. He believed that his aesthetic sense was largely impacted by the use of drugs and meditation. It was in 1972 he became serious about using LSD and doing meditation after he joined Reed College, a private liberal arts school in Oregon. He felt by using drugs, he experienced the other side of life. Through this he realized that creating great things was the most important factor in life. He travelled to India to learn the Eastern spirituality. He was deeply influenced by Zen Buddhism, which encouraged him to
