Lesson 1. Believe that you can be successful.

Anxiety and Inferiority are modern-day issues that many of us grapple with. We find problems wherever we look and blame our circumstances for our situations. Rather, we need to take control of our situation and actively try to change it in our favor. When we have a negative mindset, we are more likely to have a negative outcome. If you are convinced that you are inferior, then you will not feel motivated to overcome it. So, it is important to actively change for the better.

Yet, it is not impossible to reverse this cycle. To be able to do this, you will need to change your negative and passive attitude and actively take charge of a situation. Visualize all the positive outcomes of a certain situation and then visualize all the negative outcomes. The negative outcomes will seem much more solvable and only a hindrance to your success. You can then actively change it to acquire all the positive outcomes.

The author tells us about a man he knew who had lost everything in his life. Surprisingly, he did not give up and rather, worked harder to get back everything he had lost. He did it simply by making a list of all the positive things he still had in his life. He could take charge of his misfortune and actively change it for the better by focussing on the positive things in his life.

Our attitude is what determines our worth to other people. James A. Farley, the former Postmaster General of the United States was liked by almost everybody because of his outgoing and honest attitude.

For other people to care about you, you need to care about them. Pay attention to them and let them feel valued and appreciated. Listen to them carefully when they speak to you and show interest in what they like, what they do, and who they are. The trick to feeling valued and appreciated is to shift the focus from yourself to others. You will come across people that you will find difficult to like but remember that everyone has positive qualities in them. If you pay enough attention you will find something to like and
