LESSON 1: Think before you write your thoughts.
The author emphasizes the need to edit one’s tasks before one writes them down in the ‘bujo’ or Bullet Journal, as it is popularly called. The mission of the Bullet Journal is to help us declutter our minds. It helps us to be mindful of how we spend our time and energy. One needs to combine productivity, pure intentions, and mindfulness to experience a day that is practical, flexible, and forgiving.
A Bullet Journal is aesthetically pleasing, filled with unique symbols, color-coded words, and gorgeous handwriting. Images of such beautiful and crisp white pages might leave us itching to pick up a pen and a Bullet Journal. However, the author urges us to re-evaluate before taking a step like this. The goal must not be to fill up the pages without a purpose. And if we put that number of thoughts on paper we’ll have enough information to produce a book every single day. However, unlike books, our thoughts tend to get scattered. We often struggle to find clarity and meaning in the chaos of our thoughts.
We think about too many things, most of which are merely distractions. However, only when we write everything down, we understand what’s important.
